Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 25 August 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Jeff's Premium Halal website at jeffshalal.co.uk and our WhatsApp channel, and every purchase you make from us. By placing an order you agree to these Terms, so please read them before ordering. We are a fresh halal meat business; our products are perishable, and several of these Terms exist because of that.
2. Eligibility & your account
You must be at least 18 years old to place an order. You may order as a guest or through an account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account, and for making sure the details you give us (including your email address, phone number, and delivery address) are accurate and up to date. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms, and we may decline orders from, and stop serving, customers who are abusive or threatening towards our staff or drivers.
3. Ordering & when a contract is formed
When you place an order you are making an offer to buy. The confirmation email we send acknowledges your order but is not our acceptance of it. Our acceptance happens, and the contract is formed, when we dispatch your order (for courier orders, when the parcel is handed to the courier; for local delivery, when our van leaves with your order; for collection, when your order is ready for you). We may decline or cancel an order before then at our discretion, for example where an item is unavailable, where we cannot deliver to your address, or where there has been an obvious pricing error; in that case we will tell you and refund anything you have paid for the affected items. If an item is out of stock after you order, we will notify you and refund that item in full.
4. Products, descriptions & allergens
All our products are halal. Halal certification is stated per product: every product page clearly shows the certifying body for that product using certification badges, so you can check the certification that matters to you before you buy. Our online store is operated separately from Jeff's Premium Halal Meat of 309 Highfield Road, Hall Green, Birmingham B28 0BX, which is HMC certified; certification for products sold on this website is stated on each product page, not at store level.
Product images are for illustration and the product you receive may differ in appearance. Availability changes daily with fresh stock.
Packaging and meat colour: depending on the product, we pack either in vacuum packs or using modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), which replaces the air in the pack with a food-safe mixture of nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Both methods keep oxygen away from the meat, which extends shelf life and locks in freshness and quality. Without oxygen, red meat naturally loses its bright red colour and can look darker or purplish in the pack. This is a normal, harmless effect of protective packaging, not a sign of age or spoilage, and the natural colour returns shortly after the pack is opened and the meat is exposed to air. A colour change in an unopened vacuum or MAP pack is therefore not a defect and is not grounds for a refund.
Allergens: our products are prepared in an environment that handles allergens. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, contact us on WhatsApp or by email before ordering and we will tell you what we can about the product and its preparation. You are responsible for checking suitability before you eat.
5. Pricing & weight
All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. We may change prices at any time; the price you pay is the price shown when you place your order.
Fresh meat is a natural product and is sold by weight range rather than exact weight:
- Where a product shows a weight range, we aim to supply at or above the minimum of that range.
- The price you pay is the checkout price for the product before any preparation options are applied.
- Preparation options you choose (for example skin off, fat trimmed, diced, or portioned) are carried out after the product is weighed. They can reduce the weight of what you receive below the displayed range. That is a result of your chosen preparation, not a shortage, and does not entitle you to a price reduction or refund.
- We do not adjust the price after packing, whether the packed weight is above or below the estimate.
6. Payment
We take payment by card at checkout through our payment provider. Your card is charged when you place your order. If payment fails or is reversed, we may cancel the order. Where a price shown on the site is an obvious error, we are not obliged to supply at that price; we will contact you and offer to proceed at the correct price or cancel with a full refund.
7. Promotions, discount codes & free items
Discount codes, promotional offers, and free items are discretionary. Unless stated otherwise: one code per order; codes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money; single-use codes expire on the date we set. We may withdraw or refuse a promotion at any time, including where we believe it is being abused, and we may cancel orders that misuse a promotion.
8. Delivery: how we keep your order safe
Every order is prepared fresh and held in our chiller until the moment it leaves.
- Nationwide orders travel with DPD in insulated packaging with ice packs. The packaging keeps your products safely chilled for a full 48 hours from the moment DPD collects from our chiller. In practice products stay safe beyond that, and we quote 48 hours to stay comfortably inside safe limits.
- Local orders travel in our own refrigerated van, chilled door to door.
Risk in the products passes to you when the order is delivered to the address you gave us, or to a safe place or neighbour you nominated. Because our products are perishable, refrigerate or freeze them as soon as they arrive.
Delivery and dispatch days shift around bank holidays; the dates offered at checkout always reflect this.
If you order for delivery to someone else (for example as a gift), you are responsible for making sure the recipient's address and contact details are correct and that the recipient will be available to receive the order; everything in these Terms about availability, safe places, and failed deliveries applies to your recipient in the same way.
9. DPD nationwide delivery
We dispatch on a next working day courier service. The service arrives on time in the great majority of cases, but next working day is a service aim, not a guarantee: DPD's own Standard Terms and Conditions of Carriage state that any specific timescales for delivery are estimates only. A small number of parcels arrive the following day, and our packaging is designed for exactly this. Parcels are carried by DPD under DPD's Standard Terms and Conditions of Carriage, which you can read at dpd.co.uk. Your contract for your order is with us, not with DPD, and nothing in DPD's conditions reduces your rights against us.
A delivery that arrives within 48 hours of courier collection is a successful and safe delivery. Your products have remained properly chilled throughout. A courier delay within that window, for example arrival on the second day rather than the first, does not entitle you to a refund or replacement.
DPD will send you tracking notifications by email or SMS ahead of and on the delivery day, including a delivery window. Please make sure someone is available, or use your DPD notification to nominate a safe place or neighbour.
Once your parcel has been dispatched we cannot change the delivery address. DPD's notifications may let you redirect the parcel, change the delivery day, or divert it to a Pickup point; any change you make through DPD is at your own risk, including the extra time it adds in transit.
What counts as a completed delivery. In line with DPD's Standard Terms and Conditions of Carriage, your order is delivered when it is handed over or left at any of the following: your delivery address; a neighbour (someone who lives or works within 50 metres walking distance of your address); a concierge at your building; a safe place you nominated; or a DPD Pickup point you selected. Unless you tell DPD otherwise through their notifications, DPD may leave your parcel with such a neighbour or concierge, and that counts as delivery. Delivery is evidenced by DPD's photograph, scan record, signature, or PIN confirmation.
If a DPD delivery fails or is late beyond the safe window, what happens depends on why:
- Our fault or DPD's fault. If the parcel is lost or damaged, no delivery attempt is made, or it arrives more than 48 hours after collection, we will offer you a replacement or a full refund. This is your legal right and we will always honour it.
- A reason within your control. If nobody is available to receive the order despite the tracking notifications, the address you gave is wrong or incomplete, or the delivery is refused, the products will perish and cannot be resold or redelivered. In these cases we are unable to offer a refund. We may, entirely at our discretion, offer a goodwill gesture, but we are not obliged to do so.
- Safe place, neighbour, concierge, or Pickup point. If the order is left or handed over as described in "What counts as a completed delivery" above, delivery is complete at that point, evidenced by DPD's photo, scan, signature, or PIN record. We cannot accept responsibility for the order after that point, including theft, tampering, or spoilage from being left out or from a delay in retrieving it.
10. Local delivery
Local delivery is available in our delivery area; available days, time slots, and any charges are shown at checkout for your address. Orders travel in our refrigerated van, so your products stay chilled from our door to yours.
If we cannot deliver on the first attempt (for example nobody is home), we will always try to contact you, and we will make one further delivery attempt at no charge, either later the same day or on our next delivery day, with your products kept refrigerated in the meantime. If the second attempt also fails for a reason within your control (nobody available, a wrong or incomplete address, or a refused delivery), the products will perish and we are unable to offer a refund. Failures that are our fault are always put right with a redelivery, replacement, or full refund.
11. Collection
Where collection is offered, you must collect your order within the agreed time slot. We will hold your order chilled for 24 hours after your slot. After that it will be disposed of, because fresh meat cannot be resold, and no refund will be issued.
12. After delivery: inspection, storage & food safety
Please inspect your order as soon as it arrives and refrigerate or freeze it straight away. Our products are delivered fresh; if you are not going to use something within its useful life, it is suitable for home freezing on the day of delivery. Vacuum packed products can be frozen in their original packaging and keep well for extended storage. MAP trays (the sealed trays with a protective gas mix) are safe to freeze as they are for around a month; for longer freezer storage, remove the product from the tray and rewrap it tightly, for example in a freezer bag with the air pressed out, to protect the surface from freezer burn, as the tray's gas space is designed for chilled storage rather than the freezer. Defrost in the fridge and use within 24 hours of defrosting. Freezer burn on products frozen in or out of their packaging affects appearance and texture, not safety, and is not a product fault.
We are not responsible for products once they have been delivered to your address, your nominated safe place, or your neighbour, including products moved, held, or stored by any third party, or products left unrefrigerated after delivery. Raw meat must be stored, handled, and prepared hygienically and cooked thoroughly before eating; we are not responsible for any illness or loss arising from storage, handling, preparation, or cooking after delivery.
13. Returns, refunds & complaints
Because fresh meat is perishable, we cannot accept returns unless a product is faulty, damaged, or not as described. This does not limit your rights under section 9 and 10 where a delivery fails through our fault or our courier's.
If something is wrong with your order:
- Contact us within 24 hours of delivery, on WhatsApp (fastest) or by email, quoting your order number.
- Include a description and photos of the product and its packaging.
- Where possible, keep the product refrigerated until we have finished looking into it.
The same process and 24 hour window apply if an item is missing from your order or you received the wrong item; where we agree, we will refund or replace the affected item.
We will respond within 1 working day. Where we agree something fell short, we will offer a replacement, a full or partial refund, or a credit, whichever is appropriate to the issue. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 3 to 5 working days and in any event within 14 days, depending on your bank.
14. Cancellations & amendments
You may cancel or amend your order free of charge up to 48 hours before your delivery or collection day, by email or WhatsApp. After that point your order has been prepared and packed fresh for you and your delivery has been booked, so we are unable to cancel, amend, or refund it. Because our products are perishable, the usual 14 day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply to fresh and frozen food orders. This does not affect your statutory rights in respect of faulty or misdescribed goods.
15. Product reviews
We may invite you to review products you have bought. Reviews must be honest, relate to your own purchase, and contain nothing unlawful or offensive. We may moderate, decline to publish, or remove reviews, and we may use published reviews on our website and in our marketing.
16. WhatsApp & marketing communications
By opting in to WhatsApp communications you consent to receive order updates, delivery notifications, and promotional messages on WhatsApp. You can opt out of marketing at any time by replying STOP or contacting us. Service messages about an order you have placed (such as delivery notifications) are not marketing.
17. Trade & bulk orders
We welcome enquiries from caterers, restaurants, and other trade customers. Trade and bulk supply is arranged individually; contact us through the website and we will agree pricing, quantities, and delivery with you directly. These Terms apply to trade orders except where we agree otherwise in writing.
18. Qurbani orders
We accept Qurbani orders in the period we announce each year ahead of Eid al-Adha. Qurbani orders work differently from regular orders:
- Qurbani orders must be placed and paid in full within the announced order window.
- Because animals are allocated against your order, Qurbani orders cannot be cancelled, amended, or refunded after the announced cutoff.
- Your Qurbani is carried out on the days of Eid al-Adha in accordance with Islamic requirements, and your meat is prepared and made available for delivery or collection on the days we announce for that year. Exact timing on those days cannot be guaranteed.
- Qurbani meat is a whole-animal or share-based product; weights and cuts vary by animal and are not sold against a displayed weight range.
Everything else in these Terms (delivery, food safety, complaints) applies to Qurbani orders too.
19. What we are not liable for
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where goods fail to reach you due to our fault or our courier's. Subject to that:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or losses connected with business use. Our products are sold for private, domestic use; if you buy for resale or business use, you do so at your own risk.
- Our total liability in connection with any order is limited to the price you paid for that order.
- We are not liable for products once delivered as described in section 12, including products moved by third parties or left unrefrigerated.
- We are not liable where a delivery arrives within 48 hours of courier collection (section 9), or where a delivery fails for a reason within your control (sections 9 to 11).
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, and courier network disruption. Where such an event means your order can no longer reach you safely chilled, our responsibility is limited to a replacement or a refund of the order.
- Weight variation within the ranges described in section 5, including reductions caused by your chosen preparation options, is not a fault and is not something we accept liability for.
- Colour changes in unopened vacuum or MAP packs, as described in section 4, are a normal effect of protective packaging, not a fault, and not something we accept liability for.
- You are responsible for checking allergen suitability as described in section 4.
20. General
These Terms are the entire agreement between us for your purchase. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may update these Terms from time to time; the version published when you place your order is the one that applies to it, and we will post notice of significant changes on the website. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
21. Contact
For anything in these Terms, message us on WhatsApp or email us at info@jeffshalal.co.uk (links on our contact page). We aim to respond within 1 working day.
